SudsyMaggieGoose Island Matilda
Preferred it on draft rather than bottled but it has a beautiful flavor, just the right amount of carbonation, and finishes strong.
danielharperShorts The Magician
Smells very much like a traditional amber, but with a grainy fruitiness that adds complexity. Slight tartness and hints of sourness, not a lactic sourness or even a bretty sourness but just a traditional microbrewed Amber sour aroma.
Flavor is sweet, very grainy and bready, with a dry aftertaste and finish. Sourness is only present in the nose.
danielharperSaugatuck Singapore IPA
A strong crisp hop aroma, Chinook maybe? Very West-Coast, but definitely not a C-hop. Underneath there's a nice orangey citrus component, sweet and malty. Again, very inviting.
Flavor is similar. Strong bitter hops, not overpowering but with that almost soapy quality, with a sweet orangey malt backbone. Hints of yeast underneath. Finishes dry.
danielharperSchmohz Valley City Cream Ale
Flavor is strongly citrus, lots of oranges and hints of grapefruit. A hop bitterness balances the palate and gives the beer a bit of a dry finish and aftertaste. If this is made with adjuncts they're pretty well-hidden. It's not hard to imagine this as a competitor for Oberon, at least from the overall character of the ale. I liked this a lot more than I expected to.
danielharperClipper City Heavy Seas Red Sky At Night
Strong sour lactic aroma, some citrus esters, hints of clean dry malt. Overall lemony nose.
Citrus lemon also dominates the flavor, clean and crisp. Sweet finish, slightly dry aftertaste.
danielharperFullers London Pride
Smells coppery, sweet, with a nice dose of English hops modulated very well with the golden malt backbone. Aroma is overall rich, interesting, drawing me into the beer.
Tastes smooth, much like the aroma, with a bit of straw graininess to give the flavor some texture. Finishes sweet and slightly dry, with a drying aftertaste.
johnDogfish Head Burton Baton
Lucky to have found this beer at the bottom of the rack in a small local grocery store. It was all dusty and forgotten, but I plucked it knowing it was ripe! Delicious! Perfectly balanced, smooth amd flavorful - great abv point too
johnNew Glarus Cabin Fever Honey Bock
The best thing about this beer is how easy it is to drink. The crisp and light honey flavor reminds me of a relaxing day during summer, which is great considering how gloomy it is right now.
johnRogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar
Goes down smooth, was worried it would make me bloated, but its quite refreshing! Sweet, subtle, nutty taste is awesome. Tastes like a caramel sundae
novalunaCarolina Blonde
Golden mildly dry blonde with soapy head. Marked sour citrus taste doesn't play well with the hops. I could live with the lightness but the sour...not so much.
danielharperRogue Imperial Youngers Special Bitter
Amazingly well-balanced for an ESB of this strength. Lots of hops, sure, particularly Goldings, but with a great biscuity malt balance that really makes for a drinkable beer experience. A bit intense for people devoted to traditional English beers, but American beer fans should find this a very nice bottle.
AndyTheBeermanTroegs Nugget Nectar Ale
Pours a deep amber, almost copper color. Nice head and lacing. Huge NW hop aroma, a heady mix of pine and citrus. Decent mouthfeel, good balance between the malt backbone and the big hop flavors. More pine and grass on the palate, with hints of lemon peel. Very solid beer!
AndyTheBeermanBells Hopslam
Maybe it's because my bottle was shipped across 3 time zones, but I'm not getting the huge aromas that everyone is talking about. Pours a beautiful orange/amber with a nice head and lacing. Slight piney aroma, slight alcohol tinge to the nose. Strong, bitter, pine and grass notes, with some honey sweetness. More English in character than I expected. I'll pop another bottle tomorrow and hope the experience improves.
danielharperFounders Ales Porter
Dark brown body with slight reddish tinge. Smells roasty, lots of dark bittersweet chocolate notes, with a significant dryness. Flavor similar, with a dry finish and a quite sweet chocolate aftertaste. Overall a very nice American Porter, definitely worth trying if you can get a bottle.
johnErdinger Hefeweizen
I was not a fan of this beer at all. Smelled bad, tasted bitter, left a foul odor in my nose, and made me bloated. I like to review beers after I've given them a thorough drink, but I could not warm up to this beer. Maybe I got a bad batch or maybe I'm not a fan of Hefeweizen's... either way, not gonna drink this again :/
13mikeyOmmegang Three Philosophers
Deep caramel brown color, tan head, nice lacing. Sweet, dark fruit aroma. Creamy mouthfeel, dark fruit flavors with a touch of hops. Finish is a bit hoppy too. Awesome beer.
13mikeyAvery Mephistopheles Stout
Dark pour, almost black. Tan head that quickly thins but leaves good lacing. Intense sweet aroma. Very pungent, it stings the nostrils in a good way. Having a hard time picking out flavors, it’s just just a massive attack on my tongue. Very sweet chocolate flavors and intense lingering finish. Whoa! Huge beer!
13mikeyFlat Earth Cygnus X-1 Porter
Dark brown pour with a creamy tan head, good lacing. Aroma and flavor are mostly chocolate with a hint of coffee. Nice smooth creamy mouthfeel with a slight lingering coffee finish.
13mikeyOmmegang Chocolate Indulgence
Chocolate color pour, tan head, fair amount of chunks and "floaties". Aroma and flavor are not typical chocolate notes, you can really tell it’s made with the coco powder. Finish is bit hoppy, leaving behind a dark/bitter chocolate flavor.
13mikeyFlat Earth Black Helicopter
Pitch black pour with a small tan head. Aroma and flavor are big time coffee. Finish keeps your tongue painted with that coffee flavor. I love this beer, it’s a fantastic example of a coffee beer and would be a great way to kick your day off!
BreworFermentSamuel Adams Cream Stout
Beer poured a deep chocolate brown color with a HUGE tan head that took a long time to dissipate. Lots of toasted roasted flavors. Coffee, some cocoa nibs. A bit bitter but too much. Needed less carbonation for me to enjoy. I was getting too much of a coffee soda feeling. Beautiful beer but I would rather drink a different stout.
BreworFermentHeBrew Rejewvenator
This beer pours a nice reddish copper color. Good head that fades fast with not lacing. Chocolate and cherry on the nose as well as the palate. Not very carbonated which lends to a bit of a creamy mouth feel that enhances the milk chocolate notes of the taste. It sounds sweet and it does fall on the malty side but if it wasn't nearly 8% abv I would make it a session beer. It's good.
BreworFermentOrval
Poured into a tulip glass the beer was a beautiful clear orange blonde color with noticeable effervescence. Nice off white head that dissipated quickly with no lacing. Slight hop aroma on the nose but that was about all I got. On first taste I got, beer, decent beer, but nothing near the complexities others have talked about. The beer wasn't, bad, just not as good as I was expecting. Maybe a product of over hyping? I've had other trappist beers that were better.
BreworFermentDuchesse De Bourgogne
Ok so I haven't had many flanders reds and I know they are supposed to be sour so maybe I need to try more of them but this was tough to drink. It tasted like oaked cherry coke with a bit of port and chocolate in the background. It was a beautiful looking pour but it took me a WHILE to finish this one. It was better room temp. So let it sit for a while. I had it just slightly chilled to begin with which wasn't as good. Maybe it needed to mellow.
BreworFermentSaison Dupont
Pours a hazy golden yellow out of the bottle with a big foamy white head that has has great retention. The aroma is complex with some fruity herbal smells up front and a little funky backend. There is a slight citrus flavor to the VERY effervescent beer. A little lemon and some herbs. Very refreshing and drinkable. I could make this a session beer.
BreworFermentAvery The Kaiser Imperial Oktoberfest
The beer pours a nice hazy copper color with a lacy head that lasts for a long time. The brew clocks in at 9.3 ABV and you get a little bit of that alcohol on the palate but the malt bomb that characterizes this seasonal quickly neutralizes it. There are hints of orange and of course the spices that are inherent in an Oktoberfest. There is a slight hoppiness to the nose but again the bready aroma and taste overpowers it. The beer is well balanced and the body is not too heavy.
