MikeBGP > > 21st Amendment Brew Free! Or Die IPA I'm really happy with this IPA. Typically - I'm not a heavy hops enjoyer, but this bitterness and sweetness is hitting the sides of my tongue pleasantly. Perhaps the can is changing my perception, but that's alright and I can dig this beer.

MikeBGP > > Tennents Lager Tennent's is not your standard run-of-the-mill lager, in fact, I think it is superior to most if not all American offerings of the same style. I've stated many times on the show that I am not a large fan of lagers, but I'll stick up for a beer that dares to be different. I can't say that Tennent's Lager is a radical, but it certainly brings character to a style of beer I find to be traditionally bland in flavor. I find Tennent's to be a great, light, refreshing beer.

MikeBGP > > Redhook Sunrye In terms of a summer ale, if you want clean, crisp and refreshing, then you might have a winner in the Redhook Sunrye. It won't drive you to find more beers of this style, as I find that they tend to all be about the same. The aroma and taste are intriguing for the first couple sips, but fall mostly flat afterwards. In terms of mass market appeal, I bet this would do quite well, but don't buy it looking for anything complex.

MikeBGP > > Goose Island Bourbon County Stout I was expecting a completely different beer. This may be due to my departure from exploring stouts and porters recently, but this beer was exceptional in its delivery of a variety of flavors and aromas. A thin mouthed stout can leave you rather dissatisfied with your choice of drink, but the Bourbon County Brand Stout leaves you with a mouthful of rich flavors. Sure the high alcoholic content is not very well hidden, but it’s not an overpowering characteristic as it’s well balanced by the malts.

BeerInBaltimore I've had probably 500+ craft beers so far in my lifetime and the first time I tried BCS (just last month), I still consider a life changing experience. Amazing stuff.

MikeBGP > > Three Floyds Robert The Bruce Scottish Ale Do you like malty, sweet beers? Do you enjoy it when a beer doesn’t attack you with hops? Robert the Bruce has something he’d like to say; “Drink this beer!”. This is a style of beer I feel is often forgotten, but I’m almost never disappointed by an entry. The variety of ingredients used in a Scottish Ale brings out a unique combination of flavors. Again, it’s for us malt-heads, who need to take it easy, or we’ll down far too many of these.

sara Every time I see this at the store, I'm tempted. And I'm definitely a malt-head. Sounds like I should give in and give it a go!

MikeBGP > > Buffalo Bills Pumpkin Ale Surprisingly more true pumpkin flavor than I had believed it would be. I had built this beer up in mind as being the liquid pumpkin pie of beers, but this was not the case. It's a true pumpkin flavor that comes through on this beer and it's low on the spice.

SudsyMaggie This was actually one of the first craft beers I ever had - and still my 2nd favorite pumpkin ale (Elysian's Night Owl is my first). So good. Nice balance of pumpkin & spice - just right. Good ABV, warming but not too much to have a couple.

MikeBGP > > Flying Dog Dogtoberfest A dark amber color with a thick foamy head that dissipates quickly. Smells of caramel and spice. A medium body with the flavor falling to the back of the tongue. The thickness comes from a mix of roasted malts and spice.

MikeBGP > > Schell Octoberfest A rich auburn color and creamy head. Smells of grain and the taste is toffee like with a light body. I really like how the beer finishes with a sweet crispness.

MikeBGP > > Duchesse De Bourgogne I would do anything to get this beer. I'm very lucky to have it available locally at The Red Monk. For the new beer drinker, it's drastically different than what you could imagine. It smells like vinegar and tastes very sour - the first time you drink it. You get past those perceptions quite quickly and just fall in love.

13mikey I've had one bottle of the four pack that I bought a few months ago. I've heard this ages well... anyone know what happens to it as it ages?

MikeBGP > > Bells Hopslam Hopslam is an incredible beer. Anyone who has listened to me talk about beer knows that I'm not always too up for an over-the-top hoppy beer. This beer has the hops, for sure, but it is also quite sweet. If I remember correctly, it's brewed with honey. I think it's remarkably approachable and one everyone should give a try.
